[edit] Installing Plugins For Multiple TiddlyWiki Documents
Hi, I am new to TW, and I am hope this is where I ask questions. I have 3 different TWs. My question is whether there is an easy way to install a plugin in all of them, or if I have to do it separately? Also, TiddlySnip seems to indicate that just snipping the plugin with a sysConfig tag is eough to install it, i.e. I don't have to use import. Thanks for your help!
Hello and welcome,
I don't have a definitive answer for you right now, and I'd rather not spread false or incomplete information.
Discussions on the wiki usually don't draw a lot of (if any) attention. This sort of question is best discussed on the TiddlyWiki mailing list, as there are a lot more knowledgeable (and friendly!) people there.
Please direct your question there. Thanks.
Update: There's a thread that might be of interest to you; [tw] Mass update of plugins in multiple TiddlyWikis.

[edit] Error when Saving changes to First-ever Tiddler
I hope someone has run into this problem and can offer some assistance. I am brand-new to the TiddlyWiki and trying to save changes to the Empty.htm file from tiddlywiki.com.
I get the following error message and have tried multiple fixes.
It's not possible to save changes. Possible reasons include:
- your browser doesn't support saving (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera all work if properly configured)
- the pathname to your TiddlyWiki file contains illegal characters
- the TiddlyWiki HTML file has been moved or renamed
1. I have adjusted to security settings to 'Low' within the Internet Options dialog box as indicated on this site. [1]
2. I have tried saving to different locations and with different suffixes (.htm, .html, .hta)
3. I have also tried updating my Internet Explorer browser... to no avail.
Anyone have an idea what I should do so I can start tiddlering? :)
Many Thanks, Sharonru

Yes, this appears to have resolved my saving issue. Thank you for your quick response.

[edit] Stack error overflow (Internet Explorer)
Why do I get a "line nnn stack error overflow" when opening a TiddlyWiki page in Internet Explorer, in my case, I was able to continue navigating the page, however for a colleague who received a "line 1430 stack error overflow" message, the error was fatal, and Internet Explorer crashed. I haven't had this sort of problem when using Firefox.
Sorry, Robert, I have no idea. Please post this issue to the mailing list (also see the note at the top of this page). -- FND 16:03, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Tags & Help
I have two questions.
1) IS there anywhere to get help that doesn't require creating a google account?
2) I set a tag - say Public - to be excludeTag and excludeLists, I create a new tiddler, press the tags button at the bottom and Public is still shown in the list of tags. How do I get rid of it from that list without removing the tag from the tiddler it is on?
Hello,
I'm afraid there is no message board other than Google Groups (see the note at the top of this page). We're using Google Groups because it integrates the functionality of web forums and mailing lists. Is there any particular issue with Google Groups we might help you with?
As for your tagging issue, that looks like a bug in the tagChooser macro - I have filed a bug report (ticket #515).

As far as I can see the only way to use google groups is to create a google mail account, I don't want another mail account, I get enough SPAM as it is.
I'm using Google Groups with a non-GMail address. I remember it wasn't immediately obvious when I signed up, but I'm afraid I don't remember how I finally managed it after all... -- FND 19:28, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] AutoSave
What does autosave mean? Does it save every few minutes? Does it save after every keystroke?
If AutoSave is enabled, the TiddlyWiki document is saved whenever a tiddler is changed. If it is disabled, changes have to be saved manually using SaveChanges.

[edit] Error in macro
Error in macro <<macroName>>
This is showing up when copying a TiddlyWiki.html file to a Linux box, and then viewing it in Firefox.
- wikiWord, Date, Error in macro <<message views.wikified.createdPrompt>>
followed by additional error
- Error in macro <<view created>>
Can you provide more information? I cannot reproduce this.
Also, please note the information at the top of this page.

[edit] How can I avoid all text being selected when I edit a tiddler?
Wow, no answer to this? Why does it do it this way anyhow? There's one principal that REALLY annoys me when it's broken by apps, which is "everything I type is sacrosanct. NEVER EVER just throw it away without my explicit consent, or alternatively allow me to UNDO the delete".
For example, the ESC key by default just cancels your entire tiddler. Wow, is that annoying to a "vi" user.
Text being pre-selected when you open a tiddler like this means you just overwrite the entire tiddler if you accidentally start typing when it opens.
Good point. Shouldn't be too hard to tweak this - please refer to this:

[edit] Problems were encountered loading plugins?
When browsing with Opera (9.64 on Linux), I frequently receive this error message:
"Problems were encountered loading plugins. See PluginManager for details"
This happens mostly when trying to access online TW plugin repositories like:
- http://tiddlyvault.tiddlyspot.com/ or
- http://tiddlywiki.abego-software.de/
But it does not happen when trying other TW like:
And it does never happens ('till now) when I'm browsing with Firefox.
What's the problem?

The PluginManager should highlight the problematic plugins and provide some details. Please report those to the community so the respective plugin authors are notified:
